If you’re having visitors during the holidays, you want to get everything in place for the arrival of family members. Many dogs become excitable around guests, and the controlled chaos of large family events can be enough to arouse the senses of the most docile of pooches.
To prepare for the bustle of a hosted event, make your that your dog gets plenty of exercise prior to guests’ arrival. Take a half-hour before the first knock at the door to play fetch, take a walk, or otherwise enjoy your pup’s favorite game. This will help get that extra bit of energy out and make him less excitable. You may also want to let your dog take a breather in a quiet area of the house as guests are arriving and then introduce him to the crowd after the initial commotion has subsided.
